Top 10 AntiVirus Programs of 2017

Considering how an estimated 2 million viruses are created and spread across the web each year, it comes as no surprise that anti virus programs are the most commonly found programs on the average computer. However, as viruses evolve and become harder to detect, software companies are competing for their place among the top antivirus programs.

We have scoured the web and done in-depth testing on each antivirus software package in order to inform our beloved readers on which antivirus program is the best. So buckle your seatbelts and grab a preferably cold beverage. We’re breaking down the pros and cons of each antivirus program with our list of top 10 antivirus programs.

Top 10 Antivirus Programs

1. BitDefender Antivirus Plus – $29.95
BitDefender is, in our professional opinion, the top antivirus program on the market. We tested each program on this list, and BitDefender was able to identify every malicious file we threw at it. It even protected against the recent Java 0-Day exploit which allowed viruses to be installed by visiting a seemingly harmless web page! We protect our computers with BitDefender, and we highly recommend that you do the same

best anti malware

2. Kaspersky Anti-Virus – $39.95
We named BitDefender as the top antivirus program, but that doesn’t mean that Kaspersky is far behind. Kaspersky is perhaps the best anti malware program on the market. Whether you have a low risk virus or an Operating System shattering trojan, Kaspersky is able to clear your system in the click of a button. For some of the harder hitting malware, Kaspersky comes with its own operating system that starts up in place of Windows. This allows Kaspersky to completely scan your system before the virus has a chance to hide! The only reason we didn’t give this a #1 place on our list of top 10 antivirus programs is due to the price. It costs slightly more than other candidates.

3. McAfee AntiVirus Plus – $24.99
McAfee is a trusted brand that always delivers high quality antivirus software. Where it falls short is the price. While it is only twenty five dollars, the price only includes the protection of one computer. If you want to secure a second computer, be prepared to shell out another twenty five dollars to buy another license.

4. ESET NOD32 – $39.99
While not as well known, ESET NOD32 comes packed with powerful features such as antivirus, anti-phishing, a social media scanner, and an easy to use interface. If you are looking for a robust antivirus that will keep your computer safe, consider trying ESET’s 30-Day free trial.

5. BullGuard AntiVirus – $23.96
BullGuard is an underdog in the antivirus field (no pun intended). BullGuard AntiVirus features the best protection against any and all types of malware, and it doesn’t slow down your PC in the progress. It’s lighning fast, and we were blown away at the performance of this software package.

6. Avira AntiVirus – $33.63
Avira is a Germany-based cybersecurity company that aims at keeping your data safe. Their antivirus features download scanning, shopping security, web browser protection, and real-time virus detection that kills malware before it can even do anything. With additional plans that include file encryption and system cleaning, Avira is a great choice.

7. AVG AntiVirus Free – Free!
While it isn’t nearly as good as any of the paid options on this list, AVG has been in the game for years. Always free and almost always reliable, AVG is the best free antivirus out there.

8. eScan Anti-Virus – $29.95
EScan is great. It filters bad emails to protect you against phishing, it can monitor your kids’ internet browsing and block inappropriate and malicious sites, and it can even protect data transmissions. Never risk your personal information being hijacked by hackers!

9. Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus – $39.95
Trend Micro is a lightweight antivirus that does exactly what it advertises. There is no more to be said.

10. Norton Security – $49.99
Not all programs on this list are worthwhile. In fact, we included Norton Security on this list as an example of what NOT to buy. Norton Security is a complete trainwreck, and it’s a shame. While it was once the leading brand in cybersecurity, Norton is now an ad-riddled, expensive, incompetent antivirus that only detected 47% of the malicious files we scanned. If you are set on going with Norton, we can’t stop you, but if you value your computer and its lifespan, DO NOT buy Norton Security.

That ends our list of the top 10 antivirus programs of 2017. Be sure to share and inform your friends and family so that they can make an informed decision on which antivirus to buy. After all, with the digital era in its infancy, cybersecurity is becoming more and more important every day.
